The best way to get from Yerevan to Tatev without a car is by minibus which takes approximately 4h 55min.

Is there a direct minibus between Yerevan and Tatev?

Unfortunately, there isn't any direct service. You can take minibus departing from Yerevan, Central Railway Station or Yerevan, Northern Bus Station, change in Goris or Halidzor and arriving in Tatev. The journey takes more than 4h 55min.

Can I travel internationally to Tatev?

Things to do in Tatev

Tatev is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Armenia, it’s unlikely that you’ve never heard of Tatev while googling. Tatev is a small village located in the Syunik region 250 km south of Yerevan.

Wings of Tatev - The aerial tramway runs between Halidzor and Tatev Monastery. In 12 minutes flight you will experience the longest non-stop double track cable car (5752 m), recorded in the Guinness Book of Records, with the view over high mountains and deep canyons.

Tatev Monastery - The monastery was built in 9th century on the edge of a cliff, surviving invasions, attacks and earthquakes. It used to be a vital scholastic, enlightenment and spiritual center during medieval times.

Tatev Oil Mill - The mill was producing oils from different types of seeds needed for food, candles and also for pouring hot oil on the besiegers during attacks. Now fully restored as an interactive museum.

Harsnadzor Watchtower -The views from the watchtower are epic, you shouldn't skip this point. The watchtower built above the the gorge of Vorotan River was an important part of the Monastery, warning before enemy's attacks.

Devil's Bridge - Over the thousand years water has created this wonderful gorge with a natural bridge by piercing and polishing the lava rocks. Devil's Bridge is located in the deepest part of the gorge of Vorotan River. The water is clean, colorful and you can even take a bath in the hot springs near the bridge.

How to get to Tatev

Getting to Tatev is an advanture itself. Take a bus no. 607 or 611 from the Kilikia Bus Station in Yerevan to town of Goris where you need to change for other transport service. The trip from Yerevan to Goris costs 2,500 AMD, which is approximately 5 EUR.

You can take minibus from Goris to village of Halidzor, the 20 km long ride costs 700 AMD (approx. 1.30 EUR). Unfortunately Halidzor services aren't synchronised with Yerevan services, so you need to wait a long time in Goris or take a local taxi to/from Halidzor, one way ride costs around 2,000 AMD (less than 4 EUR).

In Halidzor there is lower station of aerial tramway Wings of Tatev, the most thrilling part of your journey. The return ticket costs 7,000 AMD (approx. 13 EUR) what it absolutely acceptable for such a breathtaking flight. Children with a height up to 110 cm travel for 100 AMD only.

Return trip Yerevan - Tatev Monastery by minibus, taxi and aerial tramway can be done for 16,000 AMD (approx. 30 EUR). If you travel in two and you share the taxi the total cost for one person will be approx. 26 EUR only.
