Garni Temple

Garni Temple is one of the oldest structure in the world, dating back to 1st century. Temple is standing on the edge of Garni Gorge and it's surrounded by spectacular scenery. It is one of the oldest structures in the world, built in 1st century AD. When Armenian King Tiridates III adopted Christianity in the early fourth century, original pagan places of worship were destroyed. The Temple of Garni is the only Greco-Roman structure to have preserved in Caucasus. Garni temple is located about 20 km east of Yerevan. Entrance fee for foreigners is 1000 Drams.

Yerevan to Garni by public transport

You need to get to Gai Bus Station located in Nor-Nork district, use our journey planner to search for a connection within Yerevan. Bus will take you high into the mountains and during the 30 minutes journey you will see Yerevan from stunning snake road. There is a bus stop just few meters from Garni Temple. Remember that Garni Temple is not a last stop, most of the buses terminate in Geghard village. Use your gps locator or ask other passengers for help. One way ticket costs 250 AMD. Pay to a driver before you leave the bus. Please, have small change ready in order to make cash handling easier.
