What to do in Artashavan village

Armenian Alphabet Park is a field with 39 giant stone letters standing near the final resting place of the man who created the alphabet, Mesrop Mashtots. The park was build in 2005 when the Armenian alphabet celebrated its 1600th birthday. Armenian Alphabet Park is about 35 minutes walk (2 km) from Artashavan's bus stop on the road to Aparan. Go for a walk or hitchhike and take a selfie next to the letter your name starts with.

Saghmosavank Monastery is another magical place you can reach in hal-hour walk from the place the bus drops you off. You need to walk to neighbour village Saghmosavank. The monastery is standing on the edge of Kasakh gorge and you get one of the most stunning views over the Armenian landscape. The Church of Zion in the monastery was build in 13th century.
