Sevan Lake
High in the mountains lies Sevan Lake, the largest lake in the Caucasus. The lake is located at an elevation of 1900 metres above the sea level, only 66 km from Armenian capital. Low populated area with azure colour of the water brings you into the magical natural world. Sevan is also a great choice when you want to escape the heat of lower Armenia.
Beaches - Most of the beaches are private ones, there are eleven public beaches located along the shore. These beaches are safe and clean and include free parking, playgrounds, toilets, first aid stations and camping sites.
Sevanavank - It is a monastery located on Sevanavank peninsula, 3 km from city of Sevan. The monastery was founded in 874. It was a contemplative monastery, was strict as it was mainly intended for those monks from Etchmiadzin who had sinned. Free access.
Yerevan to Sevan by public transport
All bus services for city of Sevan depart from Northern Bus Station. There isn't direct bus service to Sevan Lake, therefore you need to get to city of Sevan and change here. The length of the journey is 40 minutes and it costs 500 AMD (approx. 1 EUR). Pay to the driver before you leave the bus. In order to get to Sevan Lake you can ask the bus driver to bring you to Sevanavank peninsula. If the driver is not in tight schedule he will do so for some extra money, otherwise you need to take a taxi which costs up to 1,000 AMD (approx. 2 EUR).
